What to look for
- Compare punctuation and copyright placement: © BSK, separate © over B.S.K., and inline BSK © are different layouts.
- Look for MY FAIR LADY as well as BSK on the reverse of novelty pieces. A title plaque and company panel form the illustrated line mark.
- Check both clasps and the backs of decorative components. A necklace can repeat the same stamp and carry a different clasp inscription.

About B.S.K.
BSK was the jewelry mark of B. Steinberg-Kaslo, a New York costume-jewelry business. Its work included brooches, necklaces, bracelets and earrings made with plated base metals, imitation pearls, colored stones and enamel. The range combined simple metal designs with more elaborate floral and novelty pieces. Brushed gold-tone surfaces and small rhinestone accents occur frequently in surviving examples.
The company was operating as a partnership in 1956, when a dispute with Trifari concerned a hansom-cab pin. The court record identifies several partners, rather than only the three names often associated with the BSK initials. BSK’s pin retailed for one dollar, illustrating the inexpensive market served by the business. The later corporation filed its BSK wordmark application in 1972; registration followed in 1973, with first use claimed from 1957.
The My Fair Lady range added the title to the company mark on figural jewelry, including hats, parasols and flower baskets. Ordinary jewelry used BSK or punctuated B.S.K. wording, sometimes beside a copyright sign. Later trademark applications by B. Steinberg Kaslo included New Directions and La Mystique in 1986. These records extend the corporate name beyond some frequently repeated early-1980s closing dates.

Look-alikes & how to tell them apart
Trifari
Both firms made floral and novelty costume jewelry, and a 1956 dispute concerned related hansom-cab designs. Read BSK or Trifari rather than attributing a piece by subject alone.
