About Bareuther Waldsassen
The Waldsassen pottery was founded by Johann Mathäus Riess in 1866 and began porcelain production under his son in 1875. After ownership changes, it became Bareuther & Co in 1887 and a joint-stock company in 1904. Rebuilt after wartime destruction, it merged with Gareis, Kühnl & Cie in 1969 and filed for bankruptcy in 1994.
