1 markAbout E Hughes & Co
E. Hughes & Co made china at the Opal China Works in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent. Edward Hughes established it with Enoch Massey in 1889, possibly as early as 1886. It became Hughes (Fenton) Ltd in 1939, closed under wartime concentration in 1941 and reopened in 1946. Lawleys acquired it in 1948, and tableware production continued until about 1953.
