Edmé Samson, born in Paris in 1810, established Edmé Samson et Cie in 1845. Production continued until 1969. The firm copied designs by Chelsea, Meissen, Sèvres and Chinese export porcelain makers. Some pieces were unmarked, and marks were sometimes removed so reproductions could be passed off as originals.
