About Empire Porcelain Co
Empire Porcelain Co manufactured earthenware and porcelain at the Empire Works in Hanley. It was operating by 1895, with partners from the Rosenfeld and Lazarus families. The business was acquired by the Kaufman Group in 1951 and then Qualcast in 1958. It became a limited company in 1963 and closed in 1967 because the works were difficult to modernize.
