Enoch Wood began manufacturing in Burslem in 1783 and partnered with James Caldwell in 1790 as Wood & Caldwell. In 1818 he bought Caldwell’s interest and established Enoch Wood & Sons. The firm manufactured earthenware at the Fountain Place Works and other works in Burslem.
