About Fitz and Floyd

Pat Fitzpatrick and Bob Floyd founded Fitz and Floyd in Dallas in 1960. The business initially imported ceramics, including Japanese ware, before developing its own giftware designs. Tabletop pieces and accessories entered the range in the late 1960s, followed by extensive ceramic collections during the 1970s. Designers developed related objects around a theme, combining useful serving pieces with sculptural decoration.

The company became associated with hand-painted animal forms, elaborate teapots, seasonal centerpieces and decorative tableware. Collectible teapots and ornaments became a particular focus around 1990. Dallas commissioned a special tea service as its gift to Queen Elizabeth II during her 1991 visit. Omnibus and Classics appear as additional branded lines on ceramics, alongside the abbreviated FF and full Fitz and Floyd names. Country labels show that the design brand worked with production in more than one country.

By 2015 the business was based in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and sold dinnerware, giftware and holiday collections through international retail channels. Lifetime Brands acquired its business and assets on August 31, 2017. The acquisition included trade names and working capital, allowing Fitz and Floyd to continue as a brand within Lifetime’s tabletop portfolio.

Look-alikes & how to tell them apart

Omnibus by Fitz and Floyd

Omnibus is a related line, explicitly marked as a division of Fitz and Floyd; it is not a separate unrelated maker.

Other Japanese figural ceramic giftware

Japan identifies a country of manufacture rather than the Fitz and Floyd brand. Look for FF or the full company wording.
