About Howard Pottery Co Ltd
The Howard Pottery Co made domestic and ornamental earthenware at the Norfolk Street Works, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent. Family accounts identify Earnest William Bailey as owner and Douglas K. Bailey as managing director. During the Second World War production shifted toward army tableware and electrical insulation ware. Minerals Separation acquired 90% of the shares in 1947.
The Howard Pottery Group acquired Gibson & Sons in 1949 and later other pottery companies; Taunton Vale Industries acquired the group in 1974.
