The dove and olive branch device was introduced by Hulme & Christie and retained by subsequent manufacturers.
Joseph Booth Hulme and John James Christie made earthenware at the Sutherland Pottery, Fenton. Hulme left at the end of June 1900 and Frank Beardmore joined Christie, forming Christie & Beardmore. Godden gives Hulme & Christie’s operating dates as 1893–1902, differing from the London Gazette partnership notice.
