Jackson & Gosling began making bone china at the Grosvenor Works, Foley, in 1866 and moved to Longton in 1909. It became a limited company in 1928 and was acquired by W. T. Copeland & Sons around 1931. During the wartime concentration scheme, production moved to Shelley in 1941. Donald Poole bought the business in 1950, and New Chelsea acquired it and the Grosvenor name in 1957. A newly formed company acquired the business and Chelson Street works in 1961.
