About Janel Jacobson

Janel Jacobson studied at Luther College and with Marguerite Wildenhain at Pond Farm. A studio artist from 1972, she developed carved stoneware and porcelain vessels, small sculptures and low-relief covered forms inspired by insects, frogs and foliage. From 1995 to 2015 she primarily carved boxwood before returning to functional ceramics in 2016. She helped establish the St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour.

Her carved works often carry a catalog number and the incised signature JANEL, sometimes inside a lid.
