The source accepts the attribution to John Maddock but notes uncertainty because only a single initial is present.
John Maddock manufactured earthenware and ironstone at the Newcastle Street Works in Burslem. After Joshua Seddon left their partnership in October 1842, Maddock continued alone until 1855, when his son joined and the firm became John Maddock & Son. The Fairy Villas pattern originated with Maddock & Seddon and continued under Maddock.
