About John Mason
John Mason (1927–2019) studied at Los Angeles County Art Institute and Chouinard Art Institute and was a close associate of Peter Voulkos. He designed dinnerware for Vernon Kilns and taught at Pomona College, the University of California and Hunter College. His work developed from highly altered vessels and rough stoneware sculpture into large abstract forms, wall reliefs, geometric works and firebrick installations.
