About John Parker Glick

John Glick (1938–2017) studied at Wayne State University and Cranbrook Academy of Art, where Maija Grotell taught him. He founded Plum Tree Pottery in 1964. His functional stoneware developed richly layered painterly surfaces using slips, glazes, wax resist, incising and stamps. From the 1990s he also made landscape-inspired wall panels. He worked with studio assistants and adapted tools, including extruders, for new vessel forms.
