About Karen Karnes
Karen Karnes made wheel-thrown functional pottery, particularly covered casseroles, and later sculptural forms. She worked at Black Mountain College and the Gate Hill Cooperative before moving to Vermont in 1979. She explored salt and wood firing, and after a 1998 fire destroyed her kiln and home, other potters fired her pieces in their wood kilns.
