About Meakin Bros & Co / C & A Meakin
Charles and Alfred Meakin established Meakin Bros at the Trent Pottery in Burslem. Trade directories between 1865 and 1873 also list the names Meakin Bros & Co and C & A Meakin. They mainly made white ironstone for foreign markets. The partnership dissolved in 1873; Charles continued at Trent Pottery and Alfred began business in Tunstall in 1874. The source distinguishes this firm from Meakin & Co of Cobridge.
