About Metzler & Ortloff

The Ilmenau porcelain factory began as Höhn & Metzler in 1873. Adolf Höhn withdrew in 1875 and Hugo Ortloff joined, forming Metzler & Ortloff. It made tableware, apothecary wares, figurines, dolls and doll parts, later expanding its decorative products. The factory was nationalized in 1959, transferred to the Lichte porcelain factory in 1968 and closed in 1975.
