About Milan

Luigi Tinelli opened a faience and porcelain workshop at San Cristoforo, Milan, in 1833. Ownership passed through Carlo Tinelli to Giulio Richard. Richard established Società Ceramica Richard in 1873 and merged with the Doccia factory in 1896 to form Richard-Ginori. A new Milan factory for hotel porcelain opened in 1919 under the name Società Ceramica di Bollate-Milano.
