About Naples
Ferdinand IV founded the Naples porcelain factory in 1771. It prospered until 1806 and made figures copying antique marble and bronze sculpture. The Napoleonic wars brought losses; some moulds and models were sold to Doccia. After several ownership changes, the factory closed in 1834. It made figures based on classical marble and bronze sculpture.
Losses during the Napoleonic wars led to sales of molds and models to Doccia, several changes of ownership and eventual closure in 1834. The Naples earthenware factory is recorded as founded in 1525.
