About Petrus Regout Maastricht
Petrus Regout established a glass factory in Maastricht in 1834 and began pottery production in 1836. The business developed from simple faience into higher-quality ceramics and became Petrus Regout & Co. The sphinx symbol was introduced in 1879, and the company became De Sphinx in 1899. After later mergers and ownership changes, the Maastricht plant closed in 2010.
