About R Sudlow & Sons (Ltd)
Robert Sudlow established his own earthenware business in Burslem after the dissolution of Gibson, Sudlow & Co. in 1884. The firm moved from Bournes Bank to Adelaide Street and became R. Sudlow & Sons. John Sudlow continued it after Robert retired in 1912. Production transferred to James Sadler & Sons under the 1941 wartime concentration scheme, while the Sudlow name continued. The firm was especially known for decorated teapots.
