Julius and Fanny Rother founded the porcelain factory in 1899. After several ownership changes, Julius Rieber acquired it in 1918. In 1923 the business became a stock company with factories at Selb, Thiersheim and Mitterteich. Mitterteich was known for Japonais decoration. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1971.
