An 1893 trade-journal account describes Parian statuary production at the Wolfe Street works in Stoke, including busts, vases and plaques for home and export markets.
James Robinson and Edward James Leadbeater bought Giovanni Meli’s Glebe Street Parian works in Stoke in 1865, adding the Wharf Street Works in 1870. The firm made Parian statuary and porcelain. After insolvency in 1904 the business continued under the same name and later came under Harold Taylor Robinson’s control. It became part of J. A. Robinson & Sons and merged into Cauldon Potteries in 1924.
Meli’s earlier business, founded in 1850, explains that date on later advertising.
