About Rotberg Henneberg

Wilhelm von Rotberg founded a porcelain factory in Gotha in 1757. Improved production followed the arrival of Christian Schulz, J. G. Gabel and Johann Adam Brehm in 1772. Workers led by Schulz leased it in 1782. After sale to Prince August of Saxe-Gotha in 1802, Friedrich Egidius Henneberg became proprietor in 1804 and his son joined in 1807. The Henneberg family continued until 1883, when the Simson brothers bought the factory.

Production stopped in 1937 under antisemitic Nazi regulations.
