About Ruth Ferguson Ruth Ballard
Ruth Ballard and her husband Douglas Ferguson founded Pigeon Forge Pottery in Tennessee in 1946. The pottery used local red clay for thrown and slip-cast wares, matte glazes and slip decoration. Its production included animal figurines and functional wares, made with studio workers. The pottery closed in 2000.
