Samuel Lear junior decorated ware made by others and manufactured china, majolica, jasper ware and ivory-body earthenware in Hanley, England. He began at Mayer Street around 1877 and added High Street works in 1882. Financial difficulties closed the works in 1886; Thomas Forester bought the two potteries in 1887. Lear is particularly associated with majolica and employed designer Christopher Dresser.
