Sascha Brastoff (1918–1993) designed functional and sculptural ceramics. From 1947 to 1962 he ran Los Angeles ateliers producing intricately decorated porcelain tableware and furnishings with techniques including sgraffito and gold lustre. The large factory opened in 1953. Brastoff returned to independent studio work in 1962; production moved to Hawthorne, California, operating there from 1963 to 1973.
He later concentrated on enamelwork, painting and drawing, ceasing work in 1984 because of ill health.
