About Scheibe-Alsbach
Ludwig Oels founded the Scheibe-Alsbach workshop in 1835 to decorate pipe bowls and stems. Daniel Kämpfe and Friedmann Greiner bought it in 1839, followed by Dressel and Johann Friedrich Andreas Kister in 1844. August Wilhelm Fridolin Kister took ownership in 1863. The business became a limited company in 1905 and was bought by Baron von Schilling in 1920. State supervision began in 1962 and nationalization followed in 1972.
Tettau acquired it after German reunification in 1990, retaining brands and molds while most factory buildings were demolished.
