About Sergei Isupov

Sergei Isupov makes hand-built porcelain and stoneware sculpture combining human and animal forms with autobiographical and surreal narratives. Drawings extend across surfaces and sometimes become modeled elements. Stains and glazes contrast colored areas with black-and-white drawings. He trained in Kyiv and Tallinn and moved to the United States in 1993, establishing a studio practice in Louisville and later Cummington, Massachusetts.
