About SMF Schramberg

Isidor Faist established the pottery in Schramberg in 1820. Ferdinand von Uechtritz joined in 1829; Villeroy & Boch bought it in 1883. Moritz and Leopold Meyer acquired it in 1912 and introduced SMF. It became a limited company in 1918 and commissioned artists including Eva Zeisel. The Jewish owners were forced to sell and emigrate in 1938. Peter Meyer returned in 1949 and took over the factory. It closed in 1989.
