Sorau Carstens marks

About Sorau Carstens

Gustav Otremba established the porcelain factory in Sorau, now Żary, in 1888. Franz Böhme joined in 1889 and became sole owner in 1892; the firm became a limited company in 1901. Gotthard Curtius briefly bought it in 1918 before C. & E. Carstens took over. The factory exported to Europe and North America, employed around 400 in the 1930s and continued during World War II. It was destroyed in February 1945.
