About St. Cloud

Pierre Chicaneau began producing soft-paste porcelain at Saint-Cloud in 1677; the manufactory lasted until 1766. It received a royal privilege in 1702 and used royal emblems including a lily or a head surrounded by rays. Chinese models influenced the cream-coloured porcelain, with underglaze cobalt and overglaze decoration; applied porcelain flowers and sprigs were also used.
