Mark follows a style previously used by Thomas & Benjamin Godwin.
Thomas and Benjamin Godwin worked together at Burslem Wharf from about 1809. After Benjamin died in 1834, Thomas continued alone at Canal Works, Navigation Road, Burslem. Marks sometimes spell the surname Goodwin and include Wharf, referring to the factory location. The business produced ironstone and transferware including Medina, American Views and Crystal Palace patterns.
