Thomas Mayer manufactured earthenware at the Cliff Bank Works, Stoke, from around 1826 to 1835, then moved to the Dale Hall Works, Longport, around 1836. He made printed ware in several colours, much of it for the American market, and developed polychromatic bisque printing. Around 1838 his brother John joined him in the business of T & J Mayer.
