About Tom Turner

Tom Turner, born in Morris, Illinois, in 1945, studied at Illinois State University and Clemson University. He established Clemson's ceramics program in 1971–1976, later founding Peachblow Pottery in Ohio and a North Carolina studio in 2005. He is known for functional vessels, especially thin-walled covered jars. He worked with stoneware and porcelain until 1975, then concentrated on high-fired glazed porcelain and developed copper-red vapor glazes.
