About Tulowice / Tillowitz

A clay discovery led Count Johann Carl Praschma to establish an earthenware factory at Tulowice. Arnold Schlegelmilch took over in 1889 and operated it within the Reinhold Schlegelmilch enterprise. Much production was exported to the United States. Production stopped in 1945, Polish authorities took control in 1946 and semi-vitreous porcelain production resumed in 1947. The state tableware works became Fabryka Porcelitu Tułowice S.A. in 1995 and went bankrupt in 2001.
