Crockery production at Wilhelmsburg began in the late eighteenth century. Heinrich Lichtenstern acquired the factory in 1883 and his son Richard took over management in 1885. The firm expanded into sanitary ware in the 1920s and porcelain crockery in 1934. The Jewish owners were forced to leave after the 1938 annexation of Austria; the factory operated under Ostmark Keramik until 1945. The owners returned in 1955.
Production increasingly focused on porcelain, and earthenware production ended in 1969.
