William Hudson manufactured china at Alma Works, Longton, about 1889–1892, then at Sutherland Pottery about 1892–1941. He had previously partnered with Joseph Henry Middleton. After that partnership ended in 1889, Hudson continued at Alma Works. The business later came under George Edwin Barlow and others. In 1941 the Hudson and Middleton businesses were combined as Hudson and Middleton Ltd at Sutherland Works under the wartime concentration scheme.
