William Kent began producing Staffordshire figures, dogs and flatback ornaments at Novelty Works, Burslem, in 1894. During World War II the company switched from decorative ware to electrical porcelain and became William Kent (Porcelains) Ltd in 1944. Some traditional figures continued after the war, but figure production stopped in December 1962 while industrial porcelain continued for a period.
