About William Sandland, Sandlands & Colley

William Sandland manufactured earthenware and china at Lichfield Pottery, Hanley, after the Sandland, Bennett & Co partnership dissolved in July 1893. Around January 1907 he retired from active management and the business became Sandlands & Colley Ltd. He resumed management after that partnership dissolved in 1910. By early 1913 the business was in financial difficulty. His daughter Mary Emma married ceramic artist Lucien Boullemier in 1896.
