About Winkle & Wood at the Colonial Pottery
Frederick Winkle and William Wood opened Colonial Pottery in Whieldon Road in 1888 after operating together at Pearl Pottery from 1885. They registered patterns at the new works in 1889 while continuing earlier designs. The partnership dissolved in September 1889: Winkle retained Colonial Pottery and Wood returned to Pearl Pottery.
