The Winterling family formed Gebrüder Winterling OHG in Röslau in 1906 and began porcelain production in a new factory in 1907. The business grew into a network of household-porcelain works. It acquired the Oscar Schaller factory in Schwarzenbach in 1917 and developed another operation in Kirchenlamitz, which began work in 1920. Further expansion included the Haberländer works at Windischeschenbach.
The companies produced coffee and tea services, dinnerware and decorative porcelain for domestic and export markets. In 1950, the group became a joint-stock company under the Gebrüder Winterling name. Marks changed with the corporate structure, and town names helped identify the different works. Crown-and-script designs were followed by a stylised W emblem, quality inscriptions and other branded formats. A Bruchmühlbach works added further capacity in the 1950s.
Financial difficulties ended the original group’s independent operation in 2000. Triptis acquired the Winterling business and continued the name, particularly with the blue-and-white Indischblau range. The brand later became part of the Eschenbach Porzellan Group, with production in Triptis. Heinrich Winterling’s factory in Marktleuthen had shared family origins but remained a separate company, despite similarities between the marks.
Also known as: Winterling Röslau · Winterling Roslau · Winterling Kirchenlamitz · Winterling Schwarzenbach · Winterling Porzellan · Indischblau Winterling · Gebrüder Winterling OHG, later Gebrüder Winterling AG
A separate family business whose marks became very similar. Read Marktleuthen rather than substituting Röslau or assuming one company.
The blue-and-white pattern was used by other manufacturers. The Winterling brand inscription, rather than the decoration alone, identifies these examples.
