Dublin silver date letters
Among Dublin silver date letters, a date letter records the assay year. The Irish sequence differs from the shared UK letters.
Reading the Dublin group
The Irish sequence differs from the shared UK letters. Keep Hibernia, the silver standard and sponsor punch with the date letter when choosing a cycle. Dublin date letters belong to the Irish system; A denotes 2011 in the modern Dublin sequence.
Modern Dublin examples
| Letter | Year |
|---|---|
| A | 2011 |
| B | 2012 |
| C | 2013 |
What to check next
Compare the letter’s case, exact typeface and shield, not just its alphabetic name. A date letter records the assay year. Use the sponsor’s working dates and the other punches to distinguish repeated letters in older cycles.
