Barbie identification

A Barbie copyright year identifies a protected mould or design and can be earlier than the year the doll was sold.

Head, body and model identity

Read the marks on the head and body separately. A doll can use a head mould introduced earlier on a later body. Hair, face paint, body type and original outfit help identify the release; the moulded copyright year alone does not.

What to check next

Look for a product code, box label or outfit label and compare it with the specific release. Record both head and body dates if they differ. Replaced clothing or a swapped head needs its own identification.
