Rare antique marbles identification
With rare antique marbles identification, a handmade glass marble can retain one or two pontil areas where it was separated from a cane.
Pontils and internal pattern
A handmade glass marble can retain one or two pontil areas where it was separated from a cane. Machine-made marbles can show seams or pattern terminations created by their process. Swirls, lattices and colour bands describe the pattern rather than a maker signature.
What to check next
Photograph the entire sphere from several directions and include both poles. Record diameter and the internal colour arrangement. A single bright colour or surface chip does not identify a rare type.
