Nippon marks on porcelain are especially associated with late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century exports; a Morimura emblem identifies a firm.
American-market Nippon marks are associated especially with the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries before JAPAN became the normal export wording. A Morimura or other factory emblem can identify the company separately.
Compare the emblem, lettering and decoration with the maker’s marks. Nippon wording has also been copied, so its presence alone does not establish an early production date. Record the full backstamp rather than the country word only.
