Flow Blue marks
Flow blue is transfer-decorated pottery with deliberately blurred blue outlines; a backstamp may identify its maker and pattern separately.
Flowing print and stamp
The blurred decoration comes from the colour spreading during firing. A maker’s stamp on the base may remain clearer than the front design. Read any pattern name in its cartouche separately from the factory initials or town.
What to check next
Compare the border, central scene, vessel shape and backstamp together. An indistinct printed design is not itself a maker mark. If a named pattern appears, retain its full spelling and any registered-design number.
