German pewter hallmarks

German pewter hallmarks may combine maker initials with a town device; rose and angel emblems differ from engraved ownership marks.

Zinn and touchmarks

ZINN means tin or pewter in the object-marking context. A number such as 95 can state a tin-content claim on later wares; it is not automatically a year. A historical touchmark is read from its complete initials and device.

What to check next

Copy any town legend and distinguish engraved ownership marks from stamped maker marks. A decorative crowned rose should be compared with the full German pewter group rather than with a British silver date-letter chart.
