SILESIA identifies a historical region; the company name and town in the backstamp distinguish its porcelain factories.
Names, emblems and neighbouring codes
German-language names and later Polish place names can occur for the same production centre. A crowned monogram, factory name and SILESIA wording therefore need to be recorded together rather than reduced to the region alone.
What to check next
Compare the maker initials and town with the object’s body and decoration. A painted number can be a pattern code and should not be read automatically as a year.
