Porcelain figurine marks

Porcelain figurine marks separate Goebel’s trademark from the incised M. I. Hummel signature; moulded numbers usually name figure models.

Model number and factory emblem

A moulded or incised number often identifies the figure model. A painted or printed emblem identifies a factory or decorating workshop. On Hummel figures, the Goebel trademark and the incised M. I. Hummel signature are distinct markings.

What to check next

Photograph the entire underside and the figure from front and back. Compare pose, base outline and model number together; similar poses can have different sizes. Read a copyright year as a design clue separately from a production date code.
